Overview
The CrossTalk™ Fault Management Foundation provides a rich portfolio of products that complement and add to HP TeMIP to substantially uplift a customer's solution by leveraging new fault management capabilities and improved solutions' delivery.
The Foundation comprises core CrossTalk™ components that are designed to seamlessly integrate and greatly reduce the timescales and costs of bringing new network and customer services under operational management. Built to address real-life customer requirements - and proven in many large-scale operational environments - it is a carrier class enabler for real time Service Management.

Mediation: - Collection and modelling of Network Faults from network elements and network element managers, providing configurable access to many APIs and protocols including TCP/IP, OSS/J, SNMP, ASCII, CORBA, XML/SOAP, Db retrieval, File retrieval.
Enrichment: - Enrichment and re-mapping of Network Faults, facilitating the handling of faults by operators, correlation engines and service management systems.
Automation: - Providing a framework to define rules for automated fault recovery, fault forwarding and logging.
Plug-In Applications
A set of applications which overlay the foundation to extend the base capabilities to include high value solutions:
- TeMIP Access Modules and Liaisons
- Fault Classification in accordance with Operations defined policies
- Presentation and Visualisation - GIS visualisation of network alarms/faults in real time
- Automated fault recovery - giving operators the capability to launch recovery scripts dependent on alarms received
- State Management for sophisticated control of out of service equipment that is generating alarms
- Alarm Escalation Management to flag when alarms have not been handled based on sophisticated escalation policies
- Alarm Logging Services to log and report on network alarms
- Alarm Archive Viewer to view historic alarms
- Alarm History Player to inject historic alarms into a system for testing and training purposes
- SNMP ReSynchronisation to recover from loss of communication with SNMP managed equipment
