The CrossTalk™ Semi-Automatic Scripting Tool (SAST) allows Network Management Engineers to execute Perl scripts and monitor the progress (i.e. commands and responses) as a result of alarms being received in HP TeMIP. The tool is integrated in the HP TeMIP Client so that an Engineer can click on an alarm and choose from a contextual list of Perl scripts to assist with diagnosis and rectification of the fault. Details from the alarm are extracted and used as input to scripts so that the operator does not have to enter these manually.

The Web based User Interface for the tool allows script execution to be monitored and controlled by the user and supports cut and paste so that the output can be included in a report or another application. The Perl scripts are used for example to communicate with Network Elements in order to issue commands and automatically process responses to aid diagnosis or to automatically rectify the fault. The tool can also be launched independently as a stand alone script terminal.
