The CrossTalk™ Mediation Services product allows alarms from another management system e.g a fault management system, expert system, an inventory system, or any other system raising alerts that need monitoring, to be integrated in the HP TeMIP Framework and presented to operators as other network elements and services alarms. The CrossTalk™ Mediation Services AM accepts alarms in the form of text messages over TCP/IP, as well as SNMP traps. Corba interfaces are supported via a range of standard Corba clients interfacing over TCP/IP. The mapping of external alarms to TeMIP OSI Events is provided through mapping rules. The rules can be modified on-the-fly using the CrossTalk™ Mapper GUI, without the need for an interruption of service. The mapping engine executing the rules is integrated into the CrossTalk™ Mediation Services. A set of mapping rules is assigned for each external system connected to TeMIP. The rules are applied to each incoming external alarm, converting the alarms into TeMIP OSI Event descriptions. The event description is forwarded to the appropriate Model AM (produced by the Model AM toolkit), which is responsible for the generation of the TeMIP OSI Event. |
